The Sex, Love & Spirit Coalition

The Sex, Love & Spirit Coalition is a collective of Sex-Positive Organizations dedicated to bringing quality speakers, teachers, and events to Portland.  We have teamed up to bring you Sex at Dawn author, Christopher Ryan, as the first presentation in the Sex, Love, & Spirit series.The coalition includes Lotus Heart Center, Dance Naked Productions, Kindred Spirits, independent documentarian, EJ, the Love Guild, and LoveTribe.

Lotus Heart is a Center for the Study and Exploration of Sacred Sexuality, Eroticism, and Relationship, is a place to learn, heal, and build community, recognizing that we are all spiritual beings having a sexual experience. From couple’s tantra workshops to relationship-style forums and yoga classes to art exhibits, the center hosts events that help us understand complex issues around sexuality, spirituality, culture, and relationship, and the ways they influence each other.

Love Guild: Providing Training, Tools and Templates for Transformative Events

LoveGuild is a professional association of event coordinators, facilitators, trainers, coaches, counselors, and technologists working in the area of personal and cultural transformation regarding healthy sexuality and relationships.

LoveTribe: Engaged in a spiritual work that is grounded in our bodies.

Countering a mainstream culture that actively denies the fundamental human need for touch and emotional connection, LoveTribeoffers an alternative and revolutionary approach to social interaction – growing a new cultural paradigm that engenders a more heart-conscious and touch-positive culture and community.   By creating, planning, and facilitating a variety of specially designed, interactive social events, LoveTribe workshops and playshops present a safe, sacred, fun environment where members learn and practice skills that the prevailing culture does not teach – how to meet their need for nurturing touch in healthy, caring, and playful ways. In addition, LoveTribe teaches people how to develop and maintain strong boundaries, how to communicate forthrightly with kindness and compassion, how to express emotions authentically, and how to listen with an open heart.

Dance Naked Productions is known for creating entertaining, interactive, edgy, enlightening, and arousing theatre that illuminates and celebrates human sexuality.  Telling the kind of stories that use to be whispered in the dark if they were ever spoken at all, Dance Naked explores the libido’s imagination. We ask questions, challenge assumptions, and take risks.  Through live performance (often with audience participation) we seek to provide an experiential, erotic adventure.

EJ Films:  EJ is an independent documentary filmmaker based in Portland who focuses on sex, love & spirit.  His first film is about marriage and monogamy.  Why is society fixated on the happily married couple practicing life long monogamy when this is indeed a rare phenomenon in reality?  Why are all other relationship dynamics ignored or even suppressed creating a dangerous illusion based on misinformation that blindsides the unaware?  Is there something pernicious going on or is someone trying to control us for their own purposes?  Why is life-long monogamy difficult to achieve?  Is it because monogamy itself simply goes against our natural inclinations and our biology?   And finally, is there a better way?  A more spiritual way for us to relate to each other that might be better for individuals, families and ultimately for society itself?

The Abundance Company / Kindred Spirits Friendships bring out the best in us. They teach us something about love and life that nothing else can. Kindred Spirits make a mutual agreement to nurture the spirit.
